Hello Everyone,
Attached is a link from the Free Methodist Church in Canada regarding healthy churches and what they look like.
As we continue our journey with the LifePlan and as we have been talking about being a Missional Church it's important to remember the need for the Freeway to be a healthy church first in order for it to become a Missional church. If we are an unhealthy church we will fail to be a Missional church because we will be bringing people new to the faith into an unhealthy situation. As we say with our mission statement The Freeway seeks to be a safe place for the journey. Here is an interesting video that will help us to understand our denomination better and how we as a denomination are striving to build healthy churches within the reach of everyone.
Enjoy
Healthy community is attractive to people in today's culture. People can pick up on dysfunction very quickly. If people detect dysfunction, they will move on. Most people today have enough dysfunction in their lives.
ReplyDeleteFrogman: Agreed. Dysfunction is very apparent to new comers. At the same time I think it's important that we understand that a "healthy church" doesn't mean that there aren't any problems in our church. The healthy part means that we deal with the problems in a healthy way. If you get any number of people together there will always be problems but we need to know how to deal with those problems when they arise.
DeleteYes, THAT type of health is what is attractive. If we try to hide, or sugarcoat our issues, people can pick on that so easy and will take off.
